Search for "Citroen bsi reset procedure" and "Peugeot bsi reset procedure", read a few versions and maybe look on youtube. It's worth half an hour or so of your time if it saves you £600. At your own risk etc etc but its no more risky than fitting a new battery.

If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting

One possibility is that when you worked on the BSI you dislodged a poor connection inside the BSI (e.g. dry solder joint). Once you get the BSI inside out of the cold you could check the continuity between pin 2 of the large 2 pin plug (2V NR) and fuse 2 or 3 (needs to be a fuse not controlled by a relay). Attachments. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window. Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality. Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds. Remove key open & close door test central locking system. Start the engine and complete the system's check. Reset the clock and date.

Incidentally I also have a C4 Picasso with Stop/Start. I have disabled Stop/Start but Economy mode still kicks in, frequently after just 5 minutes. Citroen have gone to great lengths to include this feature but I cannot see how starting the engine after 5 minutes can preserve the battery. I now carry a small transistor radio in the car.
This is a Citroen Xsara Picasso BSI question, so brace yourself.I have recently replaced the ECU, BSI and speedo on my 2001 Xsara Pic. The ECU and BSI were wiped clean, the speedo was from a scrapper. …
