Browse to your C:\Users [yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2. Right-Click and select Properites on the GFXSettings.Gw2.exe (32-bit client) or GFXSettings.Gw2-64.exe (64-bit client) and make sure the Read-Only attribute is NOT set and Click OK. Start GW2 and login, set your preference in the Options, close the Options window and re-open. You don't need to remember your old one. Or you can open the game and click on Reset Password below the sign-in. A new one will be sent to the e-mail address that is associated with your account. By default, that'll be the e-mail address making up your user name.

I have the same problem, no issues on my main account which is through the Arenanet launcher, but in Steam i cannot log in. It says account name and password is invalid. If i try to recover the account it takes me to the password reset page but that's useless as you login via Steam?

Also, if you have any friends who currently play the game, they may still have a character name listed in a friendslist or guild. That said, Anet will surely process your request if you have other sufficient information to show you are the account owner.

Steam would captured my screen shots and log my time played, so if I ever changed pcs or reformatted all my pictures are saved in steam, 1 password to remember. Maybe if I was a higher level it would bother me, but I think Ill start over for the sake of simplicity. Thanks for the help! #4. Joker Nov 15 @ 8:59am.

I'm just coming back to the game and I can't remember my password, the launcher password option doesn't work and the one on the site that sends the email about resetting isn't sending. I had 2 other friends try whose accounts are fine and they werent receiving a email either.

For me the diagnostic results when starting with -diag show early problems for pinging/tracing 64.25.39.1 - early after leaving my router. (Just stops the step after it not even going further with time out.)Some major time outs at steps 12 to 16 (17 - last one - is okay) for 13.225.84.160and for 64.25.39.1 it goes endlessly back and forth (until capped at 30 steps) between 64.25.32-25.ncsoft
